The team that designed and assembled the Candela Structures, probably didn't anticipate that the structures would still be standing after 45 years. That lifespan has taken a toll on the two remaining structures, which are now riddled with cracks, chips, and other damage.

The Parks Department is aware of the structures' condition and is currently exploring what it would take to restore them. Meanwhile, here’s how you can help:

• Visit the Candelas! Almost everyone who sees them finds them fascinating. See for yourself by taking the 7 train to the Mets/Willets Point stop and walking to the north side of the baseball stadium.
  

• Contact the Parks Department and let them know you care about the Candelas and want them to be restored and maintained.
